Why a live class works better than a recorded one
Most people do not lack workout videos, they lack a reason to start now. A live class supplies one: a start time, a teacher who is actually there and a session that will not wait. That is why the same coaches who publish hundreds of recorded videos still stream live several times a week.
On Watch Non Stop the Fitness & yoga category gathers those live sessions in one list, ordered by what is on air. It currently counts 18 channels, 9 of them live at the last check.
Morning yoga from India
India produces the largest share of live yoga on YouTube, and most of it starts at dawn. Swami Ramdev and Bharat Swabhiman broadcast daily yoga and pranayama sessions from Patanjali Yogpeeth in Haridwar, and IndiaTV Yoga streams guided sessions in Hindi. For viewers in Europe these run in the early hours; in the Americas they fall the previous evening.
Workouts, pilates and stretching
Home workout coaches stream full-body, low-impact and no-equipment sessions that need no more than a mat. Several channels also run continuous pilates and stretch flows around the clock, useful when you want something playing during a break rather than a scheduled class.
Meditation and breathing
Guided meditation, breathing practice and yoga nidra share the category, because they are practices with an instructor. Relaxation and sleep music without a teacher is listed under Music instead, so the fitness list stays a list of classes.
How the list is kept honest
- Only channels that are live, or that streamed in the last seven days and at least four times in the last month, are added.
- Each channel must allow its live stream to be played on other sites; channels that block it are left out.
- The live status is checked automatically several times an hour, so an empty class is marked off air rather than shown as a broken player.
